In 2017, Ukraine transported a record high volume of gas over the past few years.
Transit of natural gas through the Ukrainian gas transmission system (GTS) in January-February 2018 shrank by 27.3% year-over-year (y-o-y), to 12 billion cubic meters (bcm).
"According to operational data, 12 bcm of natural gas was transported via Ukraine in January-February 2018, which was 4.5 bcm (or 27.3%) less than in the corresponding period of 2017," the Ukrainian Energy and Coal Industry Ministry's press service said in a statement.

Transit shipments of natural gas through the Ukrainian GTS in 2016 grew by 23% from 2015, to 82.2 bcm.
According to the Ukraine-Russia gas transit contract, Gazprom is obliged to annually pump at least 110 bcm of natural gas via Ukraine.
