Inflation in Ukraine slows to 13.2% in March y-o-y against 14% in February

The highest increase in March 2018 compared to March 2017 was recorded in prices of eggs, meat, fruit, and vegetables.

Inflation in Ukraine in March 2018 slowed to 13.2% year-over-year (y-o-y) against 14% recorded in February 2018 y-o-y.

Consumer prices in Ukraine grew by 1.1% in March 2018 from February 2018, while they rose by 3.5% against December 2017, the State Statistics Service said.

Prices rose most of all in March 2018 from February 2018 for clothing and footwear (by 9.6%), vegetables (5%), railway passenger transport (3.3%), fruit (3%), and fish (1.6%).

Over the period under review, a decrease in prices was reported for sugar only compared to the previous year, whereas prices of milk, eggs, sugar, fuel and oils fell compared to the previous month.

Core inflation in Ukraine in March 2018 was 9.4% from March 2017, 1.4% from February 2018, and 2.7% from the beginning of the year.

The State Statistics Service said that the report did not include information from temporarily occupied areas in the Autonomous Republic of Crimea, the city of Sevastopol, and Donbas.

As UNIAN reported earlier, inflation in Ukraine in February 2018 slowed to 14% y-o-y against 14.11% recorded in January 2018 y-o-y.

The National Bank predicts a decrease in inflation in Ukraine at the end of 2018 to 8.9%, which almost corresponds to the government's forecast set at 9%.

The International Monetary Fund forecasts consumer prices in Ukraine may grow by 7% in 2018, while the World Bank projects a 10% increase.
