In December 2017, the company Gaztrade, a member of the Trade Commodity group, won a tender for Ukrzaliznytsia to supply fuel worth UAH 652 million (US$25.1 million). The National Anti-corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU) and the Specialized Anti-corruption Prosecutor's Office (SAPO) previously conducted a probe into Trade Commodity's abuses in state tenders.

Ukrainian Infrastructure Minister Volodymyr Omelyan repeatedly stated about possible abuses on the part of Ukrzaliznytsia during state procurements.
