National Bank expects US$9 bln in remittances from Ukraine's labor migrants in 2018

The central bank believes labor migration will continue due to the liberalization of employment conditions in neighboring countries.

The National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) expects remittances from Ukrainian labor migrants in 2018 will be estimated at $9 billion, which corresponds to the figure posted in 2017.

"Referring to remittances, their total amount is very close to what we had last year when we received $9 billion. This year, we're expecting approximately the same figure," NBU Deputy Governor Dmytro Sologub told a briefing on April 12.

As UNIAN reported earlier, the National Bank estimated the private money transfers to Ukraine in 2017 at $9.3 billion, or 8.4% of GDP.
