Industrial output in Ukraine slows to 1% in March

The chemical industry demonstrated the highest growth in March 2018.

The growth of industrial production slowed to 1% in March 2018 year-over-year (y-o-y) from 1.9% in February 2018 y-o-y, without calendar adjustment.

Adjusted to the effect of calendar days, the industrial output growth in March slowed to 1.6% y-o-y from 2% in February y-o-y, according to the Ukrainian State Statistics Service website.

The industrial production grew by 7.6% in March 2018 from February 2018, without seasonal adjustment, but dropped by 1.4% with such adjustment.

The highest increase in industrial output in March 2018 y-o-y was recorded in the chemical industry (by 39.4%), the production of computers, electronic and optical equipment (by 32.3%), the supply of electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning (by 22.8%).

The largest decline in annual terms was recorded in the manufacture of electrical equipment (by 16.3%), furniture and other commodities (by 15%), and the production of rubber and plastic goods (by 14.7%).

The State Statistics Service said that the data excluded reports from temporarily occupied areas in the Autonomous Republic of Crimea, the city of Sevastopol, as well as in the Anti-Terrorist Operation zone in eastern Ukraine.

As UNIAN reported earlier, industrial production in Ukraine slowed to 1.9% in February 2018 y-o-y after a 3.6% growth in January 2018 y-o-y.

In 2017, Ukraine saw a 0.1% decline in industrial production after a 2.8% increase in 2016.
