By now, part of the aerodynamic tests has been carried out, while the project is at the working design stage, the report said.
According to Volodymyr Shmyrev, the An-188 chief project manager, a promising military transport turbojet with a payload capacity of up to 50 tonnes, thanks to a spacious cargo cabin that exceeds the A400M and C-130J, will be able to transport military vehicles of all types, military and construction equipment, helicopters, up to 300 troops, as well as humanitarian supplies, pallets and containers.
"It is equipped for high-precision landing of troops, mono-loads weighing up to 21 tonnes, and cargo up to 35 tonnes. At the same time, the An-188 will be able to be based on various airfields, including on ground ones, and require only 600-800 meters for landing," Shmyrev said.
As reported earlier, SE Antonov during the Eurasia-2018 airshow will also present the medium-haul transport aircraft An-77 and An-178.
