Ukraine sees US$784 mln budget deficit in Q1 2018

The country's consolidated budget over the period under review saw a deficit of UAH 3.001 billion ($114.4 million).

The deficit of Ukraine's national budget in January-March 2018 (Q1) was estimated at UAH 20.564 billion, or US$784 million, which was more than twice the deficit posted year-over-year (y-o-y).

The country's consolidated budget over the period under review saw a deficit of UAH 3.001 billion ($114.4 million) against the surplus at $4.005 billion ($152.7 million) y-o-y, Ukraine's Treasury Service said.

The surplus of the local budgets alone in Q1 2018 was estimated at UAH 17.563 billion ($669.6 million).

Ukrainian Prime Minister Volodymyr Groysman earlier said Ukraine in March paid $1.4 billion of budget funds on external debts.

As UNIAN reported earlier, the deficit of Ukraine's national budget in 2017 was estimated at UAH 47.850 billion, or $1.8 billion, which was 33.4% down against 2016.

The deficit of the national budget of Ukraine for 2018 is capped at UAH 80.6 billion ($3 billion), or 2.4% of GDP.
