Ukraine, World Bank implement over 70 projects worth US$12 bln – PM Groysman

Ukraine needs further support of the financial institution amid fundamental changes in various spheres, the prime minister said.

Ukrainian Prime Minister Volodymyr Groysman says Ukraine and the World Bank, over the entire period of the country's independence, have implemented more than 70 projects worth about US$12 billion.

"A delegation of the World Bank Group is at the negotiating table. The level of our cooperation is quite high. Over the past 25 years, we have realized more than 70 major projects worth $12 billion," the prime minister wrote on Facebook on May 18.

According to the official, Ukraine needs further support of the financial institution amid fundamental changes in various spheres: from education and public service to public procurement and management of state enterprises.

UNIAN memo. The World Bank is an international financial institution that provides financial and technical assistance to developing countries. In the past two years, the World Bank Group has provided Ukraine with about $4.7 billion in budget financial assistance, investment operations, and private sector financing.

World Bank President Jim Yong Kim last year visited Kyiv for the first time in the history of Ukraine's relationship with the financial institution. During the visit, he met with Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko, Prime Minister Volodymyr Groysman, Verkhovna Rada Chairman Andriy Parubiy and heads of parliamentary factions, Kyiv Mayor Vitaliy Klitschko, heads of anti-corruption bodies, as well as with representatives of civil society and private sector.
