Ukraine exports almost 36 mln tonnes of grain as of May 23

Ukrainian farmers shipped 15.9 million tonnes of wheat abroad over the period under review.

Ukrainian agribusinesses exported 35.9 million tonnes of grain from July 1, 2017, when the 2017-2018 marketing year (MY) began, to May 23, 2018.

In particular, Ukraine exported 15.9 million tonnes of wheat, 4.1 million tonnes of barley, 35,000 tonnes of rye, and 15.6 million tonnes of maize, according to the Ukrainian Agrarian Policy and Food Ministry's press service.

Over the period under review, the agrarians also shipped 393,500 tonnes of flour abroad, including 392,000 tonnes of wheat flour and 1,500 tonnes of other types of flour.

As UNIAN reported earlier, Ukrainian agribusinesses in 2016-2017 MY exported 43.8 million tonnes of grain, which was a record high over Ukraine's independence. At the same time, revenue from grain exports increased by 6%, to US$6.4 billion.

The previous record of grain exports in Ukraine was registered in the 2015-2016 MY at the level of 39.4 million tonnes.
