Large and medium enterprises in Ukraine post over US$5 bln in pre-tax profit in Q1

Large- and medium-sized enterprises in Ukraine posted UAH 132.875 billion, or US$5.08 billion, in pretax profit in January-March 2018 (Q1), which was 29.5% up on the same period of 2017 (UAH 102.615 billion, or US$3.92 billion).

Profitable enterprises' result grew by 13%, to UAH 177.491 billion (US$6.79 billion), while the result of loss-making companies decreased by 18%, to "minus" UAH 44.617 billion (US$1.71 billion), the State Statistics Service of Ukraine said.

The share of loss-making enterprises decreased to 31.4% from 36.1% a year earlier, it said.

The report does not include data from temporarily occupied areas, namely the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol, as well as parts of Donetsk and Luhansk regions in Ukraine's east.

UNIAN memo. Large and medium-sized enterprises in Ukraine in 2017 posted UAH 153.218 billion in profit before tax, which was 1.6 times higher than in 2016 (UAH 94.039 billion).
