Ukraine Cabinet decides on space budget spending

The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has approved the procedure for the use of funds in 2018 stipulated in the state budget for the development of space operations and production of space technology.

According to the government's resolution, published in the government's newspaper Uriadovy Kurier, the funds will be allocated under the program titled "Implementation of work on state target programs and state orders in the field of space industry, including the nationwide target scientific and technical space program of Ukraine," while the State Space Agency of Ukraine shall be the main administrator of budgetary funds and responsible executor of the budget program.

The decree says that this year's budget funds will be used for remote Earth sensing from space (ensuring the systemic data receipt from the Sich space system), space activities in the interests of national security and defense, as well as research and development in space sphere (studying solar-terrestrial and seismic-ionospheric connections).

As UNIAN reported earlier, Pavlo Degtiarenko has been Chairman of the State Space Agency of Ukraine since August 2017.
