Ukrgazvydobuvannya opens new gas field in Ukraine's Kharkiv region

The company set a 16-16.5 bcm gas production target in 2018.

Ukraine's largest natural gas producer, Ukrgazvydobuvannya, has opened a new gas field in Kharkiv region with confirmed reserves exceeding 300 million cubic meters (bcm) of gas and prospective resources estimated at more than 1.5 bcm.

Ukrgazvydobuvannya has reached in the exploration well an industrial flow rate of 249,000 cubic meters, the company's press service said.

It is noted that, after a special permit for subsoil use was obtained, exploration of the deposit and commissioning of the well were being carried out for 17 calendar months, whereas the process takes 2 to 4 years on average.

Read alsoUkraine may boost gas output to almost 22 bcm in 2018As UNIAN reported earlier, Ukrgazvydobuvannya increased natural gas production in 2017 by 4.8%, to 15.25 bcm. The company plans to produce 16-16.5 bcm of gas in 2018.

UNIAN memo. Ukrgazvydobuvannya is Ukraine's largest gas producer, holding a 70% share in the total volume of the country's hydrocarbon production. The company includes four gas industry departments: Shebelynkagazvydobuvannya, Poltavagazvydobuvannya, Kharkivgazvydobuvannya, and Lvivgazvydobuvannya.

It is wholly owned by national oil and gas holding Naftogaz of Ukraine.
