Termination of Ukraine's cooperation with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) automatically means cutting budget expenditures by at least US$4 billion.

"If we stop cooperation with the IMF, it automatically means spending cuts worth at least $4 billion," Ukraine's Minister of Finance Oleksandr Danyliuk said on a TV channel.

In his words, at present Ukrainian politicians are now busy with their election campaigns, but public finances should be independent of any political processes.

At the same time, Danyliuk said, the national budget of Ukraine for the current year foresees that there will be IMF disbursements and access to external loan markets.

"The key condition under the program with the IMF – the adoption of the law on the anti-corruption court – has not been met," the minister added.

UNIAN memo. The current US$17.5 billion cooperation program of Ukraine and the IMF under which Ukraine has already received $8.7 billion is expiring in the spring of 2019. The National Bank of Ukraine and the Ministry of Finance expect to receive $1.9 billion under this program in 2018.

Ukraine's parliament should pass a bill on the anti-corruption court for further cooperation with the IMF. The IMF also expects that the Ukrainian government will bring gas prices to import parity and ensure their automatic adjustment in case of a change in global prices.
