Sales of new cars in Ukraine grow by 10% in Jan-May

Sales of new passenger cars in Ukraine grew by 10% in January-May 2018 year-over-year (y-o-y), to 33,000 vehicles.

Toyota was the most popular brand in Ukraine with 4,238 new cars sold over the period under review. Demand for new vehicles of this Japanese brand in the five months soared by 25% y-o-y. Toyota's most popular model was the compact crossover Toyota RAV-4, which was chosen by 1,201 Ukrainian motorists, according to the Ukrautoprom Association's press service

The Volkswagen brand ranked second in January-May 2018 with 3,256 cars sold, which was 50% up y-o-y. The Volkswagen Golf model became the bestseller with 1,308 new cars registered.

Despite a 5% drop in demand, the French Renault brand is in the top three, with 3,166 cars sold in the Ukrainian market. The Renault Duster crossover model remains the leader in terms of sales with 1,218 cars registered.

As UNIAN reported earlier, the country's sales of new passenger cars in 2017 grew by 25% from 2016, to 82,300 units.
