Ukraine's largest natural gas producer, Ukrgazvydobuvannya, has opened another gas field in Kharkiv region with confirmed reserves estimated at 200 million cubic meters (mcm).
"At the stage of geological study, its gas reserves amount to at least 200 mcm. Ukrgazvydobuvannya estimates the prospective resources at more than 1.5 billion cubic meters [bcm]," the company's press service said.

It is noted that, after a special permit for subsoil use was obtained in December 2016, exploration of the deposit was being carried out in record time, in less than a year and a half. However, the permit allows for conducting a geological survey for five years with the possibility of extending it for another five years, that is, within 10 years.
Noteworthy, on May 30, 2018, the company announced it had opened a new gas field in Kharkiv region with confirmed reserves exceeding 300 mcm of gas and prospective resources estimated at more than 1.5 bcm.
As UNIAN reported earlier, Ukrgazvydobuvannya increased natural gas production in 2017 by 4.8%, to 15.25 bcm. The company plans to produce 16-16.5 bcm of gas in 2018.
