Ukraine will be able to receive gas from the Trans-Anatolian Pipeline (TANAP), which connects Azerbaijan, Turkey, Serbia and the EU countries, via Bulgaria and Romania, according to Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko.

"Ukraine will be able to receive gas from the Trans-Anatolian Pipeline (TANAP) through Bulgaria and Romania," the Head of State wrote on Twitter.

Also, the president, who participated in the ceremony of launching the new gas pipeline, stressed that Ukraine "fully supports" the TANAP project, which will enhance Europe's energy security.

"From now on, the whole region will see more security and better energy prospects. As we have seen over the past years, the Russian Federation has been abusing energy resources. The Nord Stream 2 project is an example of such pressure. TANAP means energy security, including for Europe. Ukraine fully supports the TANAP project. This is about energy security, including for our state, as well as competitiveness and diversification of gas supplies to Ukraine," Poroshenko noted.

UNIAN memo. The Trans-Anatolian Pipeline (TANAP) is a string stretching from Azerbaijan via Georgia and Turkey to the Greek border, to merge with the Trans Adriatic Pipeline.

The line worth $9.2 billion is set to transport gas from the Azerbaijani Shah Deniz field from the Georgian-Turkish border to the western border of Turkey. Its construction began in March 2015.
