One of the company's priorities for the coming years is introducing advanced IT solutions, acting chief says.
Vsevolod Kovalchuk, acting CEO of Ukrenergo, the operator company of the Ukrainian integrated power grids, has announced plans to automate half of the company's substations within five years.
"We will completely change our company over the next five years, which also provides for the automation of half of our substations – about 50 our substations will be fully automated…," he told the Second SEERC Conference 2018: Energy Transition and Innovations in Electricity Sector.
Kovalchuk stressed the introduction of advanced IT solutions is one of the company's priorities for the coming years.
"We plan to invest over EUR 50 million in information technology each year," he said.

As UNIAN reported earlier, Ukrenergo estimates the amount of necessary investments in 2019-2021 for the modernization of Ukraine's energy system at UAH 52 billion.
In May 2017, Ukrenergo adopted a development strategy for the next 10 years, providing for the company's integration into the European Network of Transmission System Operators (ENTSO-E). On June 28, 2017, the company signed an agreement on Ukraine's accession to the energy system of Europe. This agreement came into force on July 7, 2017.
