Ukraine exports almost 39 mln tonnes of cereals

Ukrainian farmers shipped to foreign customers some 16.8 million tonnes of wheat as of June 20.

Ukrainian agribusinesses exported 38.6 million tonnes of grains from July 1, 2017, the start of 2017-2018 marketing year (MY), to June 20, 2018.

In particular, Ukraine exported 16.8 million tonnes of wheat, 4.2 million tonnes of barley, 36,800 tonnes of rye, and 17.3 million tonnes of maize, the Ukrainian Agrarian Policy and Food Ministry's press service said.

Over the period under review, the agrarians also shipped abroad 412,200 tonnes of flour , including 410,600 tonnes of wheat flour and 1,600 tonnes of other types of flour.

As UNIAN reported earlier, Ukrainian agribusinesses in 2016-2017 MY exported 43.8 million tonnes of grains, a record high over Ukraine's independence. At the same time, revenues from grain exports increased by 6%, to US$6.4 billion.

The previous record in grain exports was registered in the 2015-2016 MY at 39.4 million tonnes.

Ukraine harvested 61.3 million tonnes of cereals and leguminous crops in 2017, which was 7.3% down from 2016, according to the State Statistics Service.
