Industrial output in Ukraine down 2.5% in May y-o-y

Compared to the previous month, industrial output in May grew 3.1%.

The growth of industrial output in Ukraine in May 2018 in annual terms, compared to May 2017, without the adjustment to the calendar effect slowed down to 2.5% from 3% in similar terms a month earlier.

Taking into account such adjustments, the growth of industrial output in May, in annual terms, slowed down from 3% to 2.9%, according to a report released by the State Statistics Service of Ukraine.

Compared to the previous month, April 2018, industrial output in May grew by 3.1%, excluding adjustments for the calendar effect, and by 2.2% with such adjustments.

According to the State Statistics Service, the largest growth of industrial output in May, in annual terms, was recorded in the chemical industry (37.4%), while the the most significant drop – in electrical equipment production (19.2%).

The agency recalled that the data are provided without taking into account the occupied territories of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea, Donetsk and Luhansk regions.

As UNIAN reported, the growth of industrial output in Ukraine in April 2018 accelerated to 3% in annual terms. In 2017, Ukraine recorded a 0.1% decline in industrial output after a 2.8% growth recorded in 2016.
