The United States attaches great importance to support programs for Ukraine and backs the course and targets of the reforms being put into practice by the Government of Ukraine, that's according to Under Secretary of the Treasury for International Affairs David Malpass who met with Prime Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Groysman.

"We have a high level of mutual dialogue, and we have already had fruitful negotiations at the Ministry of Finance of Ukraine and we have high expectations for today’s meeting. We support your Government on the path towards economic reforms," David Malpass said, according to the government website.

In turn, Prime Minister Volodymyr Groysman noted that Ukraine feels U.S. support  "both in the international arena and in pursuing internal reforms."

During the meeting, the sides touched upon a wide range of issues of bilateral cooperation and discussed the course of collaboration with international financial organizations, in particular with the International Monetary Fund.

As UNIAN reported, according to the Ministry of Economic Development, Ukrainian producers can seriously expect that steel and aluminum supplies to the U.S. from Ukraine would be excluded from duties. The ministry also stressed that the United States had already lifted duties in relation to a number of countries, and Ukraine intends to become one of them.

On March 8, U.S. President Donald Trump signed proclamations on the introduction of import duties on steel at 25% and aluminum – at 10%.
