Production of domestic currency and paper for hryvnia and domestic securities remains the top priority for the Banknote Printing and Minting Works.
NBU Governor Yakiv Smolii and Crane Currency President Annemarie Watson signed the Agreement of Cooperation in the field of currency production, according to the central bank's press service.
“The National Bank of Ukraine is proud that such a big global producer of security paper, banknotes and banknote security technologies as Crane Currency is interested in cooperation with us. Our Banknote Printing and Minting Works has everything necessary for the complete cycle of cash production: from design to security paper production and banknote printing. In cooperation with Crane Currency we are ready to offer all our expertise and production facilities for production of currency to the order of other countries,” said Smolii.

Crane Currency is a global company and a trusted partner of more than 50 central banks (in the USA, the UK, Sweden, Mexico, Nigeria, Malaysia, India and other countries), where it supplies banknotes, banknote paper and security features. In particular, Crane Currency supplies banknote paper for the US currency for almost 140 years.

The NBU Banknote Printing and Minting Works at present fully meet the domestic demand for domestic currency i.e. banknotes and small and circulation coins, as well as printing forms for securities, state awards, and a wide range of souvenir coins.
The NBU Banknote Printing and Minting Works have capacities not only to meet the Ukrainian demand for banknotes but also to manufacture products for other countries.
The annual production output accounts for nearly 1.8 billion banknotes, 1.2 billion circulation coins, 1 million commemorative coins minted of precious and non-precious metals, and 3,500 tonnes of banknote and security paper, as well as 200,000 state awards (orders, medals, badges to the honorary titles of Ukraine, and badges to winners of national awards of Ukraine).
