Ukraine's state debt shrinks by 1%, to over US$76 bln in May

The debt in the hryvnia equivalent over the period under review declined by 1.38%.

Ukraine's state and government-guaranteed debt, estimated in U.S. dollars, shrank by 1%, or by US$0.79 billion, to $76.26 billion, as of May 31.

The debt in the hryvnia equivalent over the period under review declined by 1.38%, or by UAH 27.97 billion, to UAH 1.993 trillion ($76 billion), according to the Ukrainian Finance Ministry's website.

The state debt in U.S. dollars since the beginning of the year has decreased by 0.07%, falling by 6.94% in the hryvnia equivalent.

UNIAN memo. Ukraine's state and government-guaranteed debt, estimated in U.S. dollars, rose by 7.5%, to $76.3 billion in 2017, while it grew by 11% in the hryvnia equivalent, to UAH 2.1 trillion ($80 billion).

The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine plans to reduce the state and government-guaranteed debt from 72% posted in 2017 to 60% of GDP by 2020.
