Solvent banks' assets up by US$127 mln in May – NBU

As of June 1, 2018, the number of solvent licensed banks in Ukraine amounted to 82 financial institutions, as at the beginning of the year.

Assets of solvent banks in Ukraine, excluding the insolvent financial institutions, in May 2018 alone grew by UAH 3.325 billion (US$127 million), or by 0.3%, to UAH 1.312 trillion ($50 billion).

Their assets have shrгnk by 1.8% or by UAH 24.462 billion ($932.2 million) since the beginning of the year, according to the National Bank of Ukraine (NBU).

The banks' liabilities rose by 0.3% in May 2018, shrinking by 1.7% over the five months of the year.

Their capital was 2.9% down over the five months of 2018, including a 0.1% decline in May, to UAH 158.8 billion ($6.1 billion).

As UNIAN reported earlier, assets of solvent banks in Ukraine, excluding the insolvent financial institutions, in 2017 rose by UAH 80 billion ($3 billion), or by 6.4%, to UAH 1.336 trillion ($50.9 billion).
