Ukrainian Infrastructure Minister Volodymyr Omelyan says the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) would not recommend flight restrictions for European airlines over the eastern part of Ukraine.

"The issue is off the agenda. We are simply exchanging additional information online. The Europeans do not go back to the issue," Omelyan said in an interview with UNIAN.

As UNIAN reported, the EU said in late September, they wanted to close the airspace over three Ukrainian cities, namely Kharkiv, Dnipropetrovsk, and Zaporizhia in the country's east. The State Aviation Service of Ukraine received an EASA draft bulletin designed to introduce a no-fly zone in eastern Ukraine, as the document deems flights in the area to be dangerous.

Ukraine opposed EASA recommendations on the shut-down of Kharkiv, Dnipro, Zaporizhia airports.
