Ukraine sees increase in minimum living wages as of July 1

The next recalculation of pensions due to increased social standards is scheduled for December 2018.

Minimum living wages in Ukraine as of July 1 increased by UAH 77 (US$2.9), to UAH 1,777 ($67.5) per capita.

Under the law on the national budget for 2018, the minimum living wage for children under six years grew by UAH 67 ($2.5), to UAH 1,559 ($59.2), while for a child from six to 18 years old it rose by UAH 84 ($3.2), to UAH 1,944 ($75.7).

The minimum living wage for able-bodied people in Ukraine increased by UAH 79 ($3), to UAH 1,841 ($69.9), whereas for a disabled person it grew by UAH 62 ($2.4), to UAH 1,435 ($54.5).

Pensions will also increase from July 1 following an increase in social standards.

According to the Social Policy Ministry, 700,000 pensioners receiving minimum pensions will get an increased retirement benefits. As was earlier reported, the living wage for disabled persons will increase by UAH 62. Thus, pensions to such citizens will rise from UAH 1,373 ($52), to UAH 1,435 ($54.5).

The benefits for pensioners who receive more than 10 minimum pensions will also be raised from UAH 13,730 UAH ($521), to UAH 14,340 ($545).

The next recalculation of pensions due to increased social standards will be held in December 2018.

The Law on the National Budget of Ukraine for 2018 sets the minimum monthly living wages at UAH 1,700 per capita as of January 1, 2018, UAH 1,777 per capita as of July 1, and UAH 1,853 per capita as of December 1. The law stipulates minimum monthly living wages for a child under six years: UAH 1,492 from January 1, UAH 1,559 from July 1, and UAH 1,626 from December 1; for a child from six to 18 years old: UAH 1,860 from January 1, UAH 1,944 from July 1, and UAH 2,027 from December 1; for an able-bodied person: UAH 1,762 from January 1, UAH 1,841 from July 1, and UAH 1,921 from December 1; for a disabled person: UAH 1,373 from January 1, UAH 1,435 from July 1, and UAH 1,497 from December 1.
