As stated in announcements about job openings, the staff are recruited to work at the IKEA City Shop in Kyiv.

As UNIAN reported earlier, at the end of 2017, the IKEA Group said it might open its first store in Ukraine within one or two years.

Kyiv Mayor Vitaliy Klitschko and IKEA Regional Property and Expansion Manager in South East Europe Vladislav Lalic discussed prospects for IKEA's entry into the Ukrainian market, according to the press service of Kyiv City State Administration.

The opening of the first IKEA shopping center in Kyiv was planned back in the autumn of 2006, but then this move was delayed due to problems with the allocation of relevant land. In early September 2007, IKEA General Director for Russia and Eastern Europe Per Kaufmann said that the company had received the first land plot near Odesa. However, in June 2010, the company announced the termination of the search for land and construction in Odesa region.

In May 2018, Ukrainian Deputy Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration of Ukraine Ivanna Klympush-Tsintsadze said that two large Swedish retailers IKEA and H&M were expected to enter the Ukrainian market in 2018.

In June, H&M announced the opening of its first store in Ukraine in Kyiv-based Lavina Mall in August 2018.
