Ukraine sees 9.9% inflation in June year-over-year

Inflation in Ukraine in June 2018 year-over-year was 9.9% against 11.7% in May 2018 year-over-year.

The growth of consumer prices in June 2018 from May 2018 was zero, as was the case in May 2018 from April 2018, the State Statistics Service of Ukraine said on its website.

Consumer prices in June 2018 have grown by 4.4% since the beginning of 2018.

Prices of eggs in June 2018 grew most compared to June 2017, by 53.8%, the State Statistics Service said. Tariffs on maintenance of residential buildings and adjacent areas rose by 28.7%, while tariffs on passenger transportation by road increased by 19.8%.

Prices of sugar, vegetables and fruit in June 2018 declined most, by 20.5%, 12.9%, and 0.2% from June 2017, respectively.

Underlying inflation in Ukraine in June 2018 was 9% year-over-year, 0% from May 2018 and 3.5% from the beginning of 2018.

UNIAN memo. Inflation in Ukraine in May 2018 year-over-year was 11.7%, having slowed from 13.1% in April 2018.

The National Bank of Ukraine forecasts inflation as of the end of 2018 at 8.9%, which almost corresponds to the government's forecast set at 9%.

Both the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank expect 10% inflation in Ukraine in 2018.
