Ukraine may annually harvest up to 100 mln tonnes of grain by 2022 – expert

By 2020, Ukraine may increase grain production to 100 million tonnes, of which 70 million could be exported.

"Ukraine may grow over 100 million tonnes of grain and export almost 70 million tonnes by 2022. At the same time, domestic needs will be covered in full," the press service of the Ukrainian Grain Association (UGA) has reported, with reference to UGA President Mykola Horbachiov.

He notes Ukraine produced 42 million tonnes of grains and oilseeds in 2001.

According to the report, today Ukraine exports grain to the countries of North Africa, Europe, the Persian Gulf countries – their share reaches 50% of all grain exports. A separate part of exports is occupied by the countries of Asia, in particular, China, India and Vietnam, as well as the countries of Southeast Asia, such as Indonesia.

The association also noted Ukraine holds a share in 12% of the world market and is in the TOP-5 exporters of grain.

As UNIAN reported, experts predict a grain crop at 60 million tonnes in 2018.
