Turbo generator No. 4 (TG-4) of power unit No. 2 at Rivne Nuclear Power Plant (RNPP) in Ukraine's Rivne region has completely resumed work after its disconnection on July 16.
"A cable section has been replaced and necessary tests have been carried out after the cause of the failure was established. Now, the unit's capacity is gradually increasing," the RNPP's press service said.

The earth fault of the power cable of a TG-4 power transformer was the cause behind the incident.
The turbo generator was connected to the gird at 13:37 Kyiv time on July 17, the report said.
Two power units of the RNPP with a total capacity of 817 MW were operating as of 14:57 on July 17, the report said.
Scheduled maintenance repairs are under way at units Nos. 3 and 4.
The equipment of the operating power units and personnel are working in the normal mode, it said.
The radiation, fire-prevention and ecological background at the RNPP and the adjacent area has not changed being within the limits of the established norms.
As UNIAN reported earlier, turbo generator No. 4 was disconnected by the electric protection system at 17:09 Kyiv time on July 16.
Preliminary assessment of the event according to the International Nuclear Event Scale (INES) is beyond the scale.

The plant operates four power units with a total capacity of 2.835 GW: unit No. 1 (VVER-440) with a capacity of 420 MW since 1980, unit No. 2 (VVER-440) of 415 MW since 1981, unit No. 3 (VVER-1000) of 1 GW since 1986, and unit No. 4 (VVER-1000) of 1 GW since 2004.
