Ukrainian farmers thresh almost 19 mln tonnes of new grain

The average yield of grain was 3.17 tonnes per hectare.

Ukrainian farmers had threshed 18.9 million tonnes of grain from 6 million hectares as of July 23, 2018.

In particular, agrarians harvested 14.3 million tonnes of winter wheat from 4.2 million hectares, or 67% of the forecast, while 30,000 tonnes of spring wheat was harvested from 13,000 hectares, or 7% of the forecast, the press service of Ukraine's Agrarian Policy and Food Ministry said.

Farmers also threshed 1.1 million tonnes of spring barley from 563,000 hectares (37% of the forecast), while the total yield of peas was 510,000 tonnes from 306,000 hectares (72% of the forecast).

The average yield of grain was 3.17 tonnes per hectare.

Also, 60,000 tonnes of rye was harvested from 25,000 hectares (17% of the forecast) with a yield of 2.35 tonnes per hectares and 13,000 tonnes of oats from 8,000 hectares (4.1%) with a yield of 1.66 tonnes per hectare.

In addition, 2.3 million tonnes of winter rapeseeds were harvested from 878,000 hectares (90%) with a yield of 2.57 tonnes per hectare and 10,300 tonnes of spring rapeseeds from 6,000 hectares (11.3%) with a yield of 1.66 tonnes per hectare.

As UNIAN reported, Ukraine's Agrarian Policy and Food Ministry keeps the forecast for the grain harvest in 2018 at 60 million tonnes.
