Ukraine farmers thresh 20 mln tonnes of cereals

Ukrainian agrarians as of July 25 threshed 20 million tonnes of cereals from an area of ​​6.3 million hectares, the press service of the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food reports.

In particular, farmers collected 15 million tonnes of winter wheat from an area of ​​4.4 million hectares, which is 70% of the forecast; 37,000 tonnes of spring wheat from an area of ​​16,000 hectares, or 9% of the forecast; 2.9 million tonnes of winter barley from an area of ​​816,000 hectares, or 99% of the forecast; 1.3 million tonnes of spring barley from an area of ​​628,000 hectares, or 41% of the forecast; and 541,000 tonnes of peas on an area of ​​319,000 hectares, or 75% of the forecast.

The average yield of cereals is 31.9 c/ha.

Also, 67,000 tonnes of rye was harvested from 27,500 hectares (19% of the forecast) with a yield of 24.5 c/ha, and 16,000 tonnes of oats from 9,300 ha (5%) with a yield of 17.5 c/ha.

In addition, 2.3 million tonnes of winter rape was harvested from 902,000 hectares (92%) with a yield of 25.8 c/ha and 11,000 tonnes of spring rape from 7,500 hectares (14%) with a yield of 15 c/ha.

As UNIAN reported earlier, the agrarian ministry retained the forecast for the grains harvest in 2018 at 60 million tonnes.

According to the State Statistics Service, the harvest of cereals and leguminous crops in Ukraine in 2017 decreased by 7.3% compared to 2016, amounting to 61.3 million tonnes.
