The bank was in the red in the same period of 2017.
State-run PrivatBank posted UAH 6.9 billion, or US$258 million, in net profit in the first half of 2018, whereas it was in the red in the same period of 2017.
In the second quarter (Q2) alone, the bank's profit was UAH 3.272 billion, its press service said. PrivatBank's net revenue from commission grew by 15%, or UAH 505 million, while net revenue from interest rose by 16%, or UAH 528 million.

As UNIAN reported earlier, PrivatBank posted UAH 22.966 billion, or US$858 million, in loss in 2017.
Dnipro-based PrivatBank was set up in 1992. It is the country's largest bank in terms of assets.
Ukraine's government on December 18, 2016, decided to nationalize the bank. To handle the bank's additional capitalization, it issued government bonds worth UAH 117 billion in 2016 and new ones worth UAH 38.5 billion in 2017.
