NBU again cuts official exchange rate

The exchange rate of the Ukrainian national currency the hryvnia suffered a decline on the interbank market on Thursday, losing three kopiykas against the dollar, according to the official Web site of the National Bank of Ukraine.

As of 1400 the central bank set the following official exchange rates of the hryvnia against leading foreign currencies:

$100 – UAH 1,567.2305 (as of 1400 on December 10 it was UAH 1,564.6999);

EUR 100 – UAH 1,942.1120 (as of 1400 on December 10 it was UAH 1,935.3773);

10 Russian rubles – UAH 2.8875 (as of 1400 on December 10 it was UAH 2.8863).

As UNIAN reported earlier, the National Bank of Ukraine on Thursday sold $3 million at an average rate of UAH 15.6667 to the dollar on the interbank currency market in continued efforts to prop up the exchange rate.

Hryvnia quotations against the dollar on the interbank currency market on Thursday as of 1431 slid to UAH 15.80/16.07 to the dollar compared with UAH 15.70/16.00 to the dollar on Wednesday, according to online financial Web site UkrDealing.

On the Interbank on Thursday, hryvnia quotations against the euro dropped to UAH 19.65/20.02 compared with UAH 19.48/19.85 to the dollar at the close of trade on Wednesday.

The total volume of the bids from interbank market participants amounted to $12.3 million, and the minimum rate was UAH 15.6600 to the dollar.
