Ukraine GTS operator says losses more than double

The operator of Ukraine's gas transmission system, Ukrtransgaz, in January-June 2018 saw its losses increase by 2.5 times y-o-y, to UAH 17.73 billion ($474.36 million), according to the company's report published on its website.

According to the report, over the 6 months of 2018, the company's net income from sales of products decreased by 5.9%, to UAH 27.16 billion ($726.67 million), while gross losses were up 3.16 times, to UAH 7.36 billion ($196.92 million), compared to January-June 2017.

The cost of products sold amounted to UAH 34.52 billion ($923.59 million), the report reads.

As UNIAN reported, in 2017 Ukrtransgaz increased its net loss by 4.41 times to UAH 24.83 billion ($664.3 million) compared to 2016.

UNIAN memo. Ukrtransgaz operates 12 underground gas storages (USFs) with a total working capacity of about 31 bcm. The USFs are an integral part of Ukraine's gas supply system and gas transit through its territory. The company is also the operator of the main gas pipelines, through which natural gas is exported from the Russian Federation to the EU countries. Naftogaz of Ukraine owns 100% of Ukrtransgaz shares.
