Vehicle output in Ukraine declines by 6.4% in H1

Eurocar was the only manufacturer of passenger cars in Ukraine over the period under review.

Production of motor vehicles in Ukraine declined by 6.4% in January-June 2018 (H1) year-over-year (y-o-y), to 3,853 units.

The Eurocar plant alone contributed to the passenger vehicles statistics in the domestic car industry in H1 2018. The enterprise increased its production over the period under review by 20.3% y-o-y, to 3,339 cars, according to the Ukrautoprom Association.

Thus, Eurocar was the only manufacturer of passenger cars in Ukraine. Noteworthy, Zaporizhia-based ZAZ Plc. was engaged in production of passenger cars in H1 2017, having manufactured 293 vehicles.

Production of buses in the first six months of 2018 rose by 17.3%, to 395 units. In particular, ZAZ Plc. manufactured 22 buses, while Bogdan Corporation – four buses, Etalon Corporation's Chernihiv-based plant – 74 buses, Chasiv Yar Bus Plant – 85 buses, and PJSC Cherkasy Bus – 210 buses.

Over the period under review, 109 commercial vehicles were produced at ZAZ Plc. and PJSC Cherkasy Bus (85 and 24 units, respectively).

As UNIAN reported earlier, the production of vehicles in Ukraine soared by 63.1% in 2017 from 2016, to 8,586 vehicles, according to Ukrautoprom.

The country's output of vehicles in 2016 fell by 36% against 2015, to 5,200 units, it said.

UNIAN memo. The largest manufacturers of cars and buses in Ukraine are UkrAVTO Corporation (Zaporizhia automobile building plant), Bogdan Corporation, Eurocar plant, and Etalon Corporation (Chernihiv and Boryspil automobile plants).
