At the same time, countries of four regions, namely Asia, Africa, the European Union, and the CIS remain key markets for Ukrainian farm produce. In H1 2018, their share increased to almost 97% of total Ukrainian agricultural exports.

In particular, the European Union countries accounted for 30.4% of Ukraine's agri-exports. In the first six months of 2018, they bought Ukrainian foodstuffs worth $2.6 billion.

Shipments of farm produce to African countries stood at $1.3 billion, or 14.6% of Ukraine's total agricultural exports.

Experts from the Institute of Agrarian Economics note a further increase in Ukraine's agri-exports to the CIS countries, which was first registered last year. In January-June 2018, the CIS member states bought Ukrainian foodstuffs worth $0.7 billion, or 8.6% of total agricultural exports.

Over the period under review, India topped the ranking of countries that import Ukrainian farm produce, having bought foodstuffs worth $1 billion.

Egypt retained the second position, having imported Ukrainian agricultural products worth $576 million.

China ranked third with $527 million in farm produce purchases from Ukraine.

Ukrainian exporters also received significant revenues from the Netherlands ($525 million), Spain ($470 million), Turkey ($458 million), and Italy ($449 million).

The seven countries provided 47% of the country's revenue from agri-export in the first half of 2018, the experts said.

As UNIAN reported earlier, Ukrainian farmers in the first quarter of 2018 shipped abroad foodstuffs worth $4.3 billion.

The EU, India, Egypt, and China were major importers of Ukrainian agricultural products in 2017.
