Foreign trade balance deficit in Ukraine up 13 times

Imports of goods and services to Ukraine increased by 13.5%, while exports grew by 11.1%.

The foreign trade balance of Ukraine in January-June 2018 was reduced to a deficit of $653.1 million, which is 13 times higher than the deficit for the same period last year at $48.7 million, according to the State Statistics Service of Ukraine.

Imports of goods and services to Ukraine grew by 13.5% to $28.469 billion and exports - by 11.1%, to $27.816 billion.

According to the data released, the balance of trade in goods was reduced to a deficit of $2.658 billion, while the balance of trade in services - with a surplus of $2.826 billion.

The agency recalled that the data were provided without taking into account the occupied Crimea and Sevastopol, as well as the occupied territories in Donetsk and Luhansk regions.

In late July, the National Bank of Ukraine announced its estimates, according to which the balance of foreign trade in goods and services of Ukraine in January-June 2018 was reduced to a deficit of $3.806 billion, which is 23.7% higher than the deficit for the same period in 2017 at $3.078 billion.

UNIAN memo. According to the State Statistics Service, Ukraine's foreign trade balance for 2017 was reduced to a deficit of $2.625 billion, compared to the previous year's surplus of $541.6 million.

The National Bank estimated the deficit of foreign trade in goods and services of Ukraine in 2017 at $6.848 billion, which is 25.2% more than the deficit for 2016.
