Ukraine's Minister of Infrastructure Volodymyr Omelyan announced new restrictions on railway communication with Russia.

"Today I signed a historic document. Only bears will go to Moscow, as in the good old days," the minister wrote on Facebook.

As UNIAN reported earlier, Omelyan said that the Ministry of Infrastructure considered the issue of shutting down all railway communication with Moscow, but the final decision, he said, should be taken by the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine and the Ukrainian government.

In the summer of 2017, the Russian edition of Kommersant, referring to its sources in the government of Ukraine, reported that from July 1, Ukraine was allegedly preparing to halt railway passenger transportation to Russia.

PJSC Ukrzaliznytsia at the time denied the report.

UNIAN memo. Air communication between Ukraine and Russia was terminated on October 25, 2015. The infrastructure ministry said air traffic could be resumed only if Russian air carriers terminated their flights to the occupied Crimea and paid all penalties for the illegal flights already made.
