Ukraine's Yuzhmash ships to U.S. two parts of Antares launcher's first stage

The contract between Yuzhmash and U.S.-based Orbital has been signed until 2019.

Two main constructions of the first stage of a launch vehicle Antares are on their way to be soon delivered to the customer, that's according to Yuzhmash's press service.

On August 7, under terms of the agreement with NASA, two main constructions of the Antares launcher's first stage have been shipped from the enterprise to the seaport of Mykolayiv to be delivered to the customer, the report says.

The approximate date of arrival to the port of destination (Wilmington, Delaware, USA) is mid-September.

SE PA UMZ named after A.M.Makarov and Orbital Sciences Corporation negotiated the contract up to 2019. Under terms of the agreement, Yuzhmash manufactures and supplies main construction of the Antares launcher's first stage.

Main construction of the first stage was designed by SE DO Yuzhnoe and manufactured at SE PA UMZ named after A.M.Makarov.

Ukrainian enterprises Hartron-ARCOS, Hartron-Ucom, Chezara, and Rapid are also involved in the project.

UNIAN memo. First demonstration launch of a LV Antares was carried out on April 22, 2013. As of today, five successful launches have been performed.

Next start is planned for 2019.
