Ukrainian agri-exports total US$8.6 bln in six months

This year's agri-exports will not be lower, the ministry predicted.

Ukraine's foreign trade in farm produce in January-June 2018 reached US$11.3 billion, which was 3.5% up year-over-year and accounted for 23% of total foreign trade; of the amount, agri-exports totaled US$8.6 billion.

This was announced by Ukraine's Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food on its website.

The ministry mentioned that last year Ukrainian agrarian exports hit a record amount of almost US$18 billion.

This year's agri-exports will not be lower, the ministry predicted.

Cereal crops remain in the lead of agri-exports, their share was 36.8%, while that of vegetable oils was 26.2% and oilseeds 7.5%.

Geographically, Asian countries were in the lead, their share was 43.2%, European Union member states ranked second with 30.4%, and the third place was occupied by African countries with 14.6%.

As UNIAN reported, the State Statistics Service of Ukraine said Ukraine's foreign trade in January-June 2018 saw a deficit of $653.1 million, which is 13 times more than the deficit for the same period last year in the amount of $48.7 million.

Imports of goods and services to Ukraine increased by 13.5%, to $28.469 billion, while exports rose by 11.1%, to $ 27.816 billion.
