Ambassador of Ukraine to the United States Valeriy Chaly has said U.S. Holtec International engineering company is planning to produce small nuclear reactors in Ukraine.

Speaking at a press conference Tuesday, Chaly said now it is possible to talk about a new level of relations between Ukraine and the United States since there is a signal "about placing strategic enterprises on the territory of Ukraine," an UNIAN correspondent reported.

In particular, it is about Holtec International investing in the Ukrainian market to construct a spent nuclear fuel storage facility.

At the same time, as Chaly said, Holtec CEO told him that he was ready to place in Ukraine and India capacities for the production of small nuclear reactors.

"Of all countries, it was we who won this right. I want to be clear that I'm not telling you about this as something already accomplished – it's just that the process has started, and we plan to jointly produce small nuclear reactors in the future. This is a multi-billion project in Ukraine, creating jobs and bringing cooperation in the area to a completely different level," the Ambassador said.
