Gov't not to raise electricity prices for population until July 2019 – Regulator

Chair of the National Energy and Utilities Regulation Commission (NEURC) of Ukraine, Oksana Kryvenko, has said the tariff for electricity for the population will not change until July 2019, that's when the new electricity market is set to be launched.

"We don't expect significant changes, a significant increase in tariffs for electricity until July, so tariffs will remain unchanged for household consumers," she told Novoe Vremya Radio.

Kryvenko added that the increase in the tariff is possible after the introduction of the new electricity market.

"Given the fact that we see a high concentration in the electricity market of large generating companies, it is really possible that tariffs will be increased as early as July 2019," she said.

Kryvenko also recalled the new electricity market provides for free pricing for the consumer.
