Permanent Representative of Ukraine to the European Union, Mykola Tochytskyi, states that the agreement on granting Ukraine the first tranche of EU's new macro-financial aid package totaling EUR 1 billion, will be signed off in the near future.

"There is progress [on agreeing on the conditions for the allocation of the first tranche]. There are such conditions. Unfortunately, I cannot disclose them to you until the agreement has been signed," Tochytskyi told an MFA Ukraine press club meeting in Kyiv on Monday, an UNIAN correspondent reports.

"It will be signed in the near future, "said Tochitsky.

As UNIAN reported earlier, the European Council on June 26 finally approved the third package of macro-financial assistance to Ukraine in the amount of EUR 1 billion.

Ukraine since 2014 has been receiving funding under the EU macro-financial assistance programs.

In 2014, the first program provided for the allocation of EUR 1.6 billion of assistance, while the second in 2015 totaled EUR 1.8 billion.

In total, Ukraine was able to receive only EUR 2.81 billion, since the remaining EUR 600 million was never provided due to the failure by Ukrainian authorities to lift the ban on the export of round timber.
