The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine will submit to the National Security and Defense Council a list of 19 legal entities to which sanctions should be applied for their involvement in the illegal construction of the Kerch Strait bridge connecting the Russia-occupied Crimea with the Krasnodar Territory of the Russian Federation.

The relevant move was approved at the government's Wednesday meeting, as reported on the website of the Ministry for temporary occupied territories and internally displaced persons (MTOT).

In particular, the Cabinet of Ministers adopted a decree on the adoption of a draft order on the application of sanctions to those involved in the construction of the Kerch Strait bridge.

The MTOT reminded that the construction of the said bridge is illegal. The general contractor for the design and construction of a transport crossing through the Kerch Strait is Stroygazmontazh. On March 24, 2016, a list of companies was published where subcontractors were identified.

"In this regard, the Ministry of Communications and Information Technologies has initiated the application of sanctions to 19 legal entities (private companies, Russian state-owned companies, and federal institutions) who are the managers/founders of legal entities involved in the process of the illegal construction of the Kerch Strait bridge, taking into account the available data, and prepared the corresponding package of documents," the statement says.

In particular, it is noted that companies such as Stroygazmontazh (design and construction contractor), its subsidiary SGM-Most (Moscow), project's chief designer Institute Giprobudmost - St. Petersburg, subcontractors Mostotrest (Moscow), Portgidrobut (Novorossiysk), etc.

The statement explains that imposing sanctions on all legal entities involved in the illegal construction of the Kerch Strait bridge will make impossible all economic relations with Ukraine, allow limiting or halting economic relations with the European Union, and U.S.

"In the future, the relevant order will be submitted to the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine," the report says.

As UNIAN reported, the Council of the EU imposed sanctions against six companies involved in the illegal construction of a bridge across the Kerch Strait connecting the Crimea with Russia.
