The National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) has released a new UAH 20 banknote, which will be put into circulation on September 25, 2018.
"Banknotes of 2003 and 2018 samples will be in simultaneous circulation. After a new UAH 20 banknote is put into circulation, citizens will not need to exchange old banknotes for new ones. The new banknotes will replace worn and damaged banknotes of the 2003 sample. Gradually, more and more new UAH 20 banknotes will be in circulation due to the replacement of the worn ones," the NBU wrote on its website.

In terms of design, the new banknote inherits the updated banknotes of UAH 100 and UAH 500. A portrait of Ivan Franko is preserved on the new banknote, but shifted to the center of the banknote (earlier it was on the right side). The colors and size are also preserved.
