Maize crop in Ukraine in the current marketing year (September 2018 through August 2019) may reach about 30 million tonnes and become a record one, as well as to cover low yields of early grain crops.

"Given the first results of harvesting this culture and the comments of agricultural producers, there is every reason to believe that about 30 million tonnes of maize will be harvested in Ukraine this year, and this figure may be the highest in the history of Ukraine," the press service of the Ukrainian Agribusiness Club (UCAB) has reported.

In addition, according to UCAB analyst of agricultural markets, Petro Lahay, the total yield of cereals in the current marketing year may reach 64 million tonnes.

"The forecasted high gross harvest of maize will cover the low harvesting rates of the early group, and, according to our forecasts, Ukrainian agrarians will harvest about 64 million tonnes of grains and legumes this season, which, given the high prices in the world market, may allow Ukrainian farmers achieving high financial indicators," the press service quoted the expert as saying.

According to the forecasts of UCAB analysts, the gross yield of grains this season may exceed the figures of the previous year by 2 million tonnes.
