The devaluation of the Ukrainian hryvnia is connected with the devaluation of the Russian ruble, National Bank of Ukraine Governor Valeriya Gontareva said on Monday at a meeting with the directors of the largest banks in the country, according to the press service of the NBU.
"As for the situational rate [surges] on the currency market that were observed last week, these were connected to some extent with the devaluation of the Russian ruble," she said.
"And this provoked a panic on the currency market of Ukraine. As of today, the situation has improved.”
