Former Governor of the National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) Valeriya Gontareva is reportedly to become head of the supervisory board of a new telemedicine startup – an online platform connecting patients and doctors.

The name of the startup is Medikit, the Ekonomichna Pravda economic news outlet reported with reference to the news agency Liga.net.

Gontareva herself did not disclose details of the project.

The Medikit's website says that the mission of the company is "to create a digital medicine ecosystem, which will provide communication between users, streamline processes, accumulate and store data in one place."

The company will offer patients online consultations by physicians. Users will also be able to call the doctor through the Internet for a health check at home.

Doctors will have an additional income 24/7 per each telemedicine consultation. Medikit does not explain exactly how this will work and who will be able to register on the site.

The presentation of the platform to the public is scheduled for November 2018, the website said.

De jure, Gontareva has nothing to do with the project, Ekonomichna Pravda said, but her son Anton Gontarev and Svitlana Kyrychenko, who worked for ICU from 2008 to 2010, are Medikit's co-founders.

Gontareva sold her stake in ICU to Kostiantyn Stetsenko and Makar Pasenyuk before her appointment as chief banker in 2014.

Anton Gontarev and Kyrychenko invested in UAH 5 million (about US$177,000) in Medikit's charter capital each. The company itself is registered on January 12, 2018. Kyrychenko refused to talk about her participation in the company. ICU said they had no relation to the project.

Ruslan Kravets, the ex-Deputy Director of the NBU's Department of Strategy and Reform, became Director of Medikit on April 14, 2018.

"Conceptually, this is a medical marketplace based on the same model as Airbnb or Olx," Kravets said. "The IT component is under development, thus it's early to talk about such technical details as payment of services."

He also said that Gontareva might be appointed head of the company's supervisory board.
