Ukraine boosts electricity exports by almost a quarter in eight months

Hungary was a major buyer of Ukrainian electricity.

Ukraine in January-August 2018 boosted electricity exports by 21.1%, year-over-year, to US$213.4 million.

Hungary accounted for 59.7%, or US$127.4 million, of revenue from electricity sales abroad, the State Fiscal Service of Ukraine has reported.

The share of Poland was about 23% (US$49.2 million) of total electricity exports, while Moldova accounted for about 14.7% (US$31.4 million).

In August alone, Ukraine exported electricity to Hungary to the tune of US$14.9 million, shipments to Moldova were estimated at US$6.2 million, to Poland at US$5.5 million.

As UNIAN reported, Ukraine in 2017 boosted electricity exports by 28.6% from 2016, to 5.166 billion kWh. At the same time, electricity export revenue for the reporting period increased by 55%, to US$236 million.
