The Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine forecasts that the production of grain and leguminous crops in 2018 will be at 63.1 million tonnes, according to preliminary data.

"We are adjusting our previous estimate upwards, expecting the yield at 63.1 million tonnes," First Deputy Minister Maxim Martyniuk wrote on Facebook.

"Growth will be due to a group of late cereals. The weather conditions were far from optimal, but the losses were fragmentary, and as a result, we have a decent food wheat/forage ratio at 60/40," he wrote.

In addition, according to Martyniuk, the forecast for grain exports has also been increased to 42 million tonnes.

"This is good news as such, while the world situation (poor crops in supplying countries and rising prices) raises its status to 'excellent'," the first deputy minister noted.
